If you have made it here to the Gray Oak Lane blog, I welcome you! I am Kayla and I make cards. I started paper crafting in 2009 because a big box craft store had pads of pretty paper on sale for half off. I had no use for this pretty paper, but really, really wanted it! So, I bought it and had to think of a use for it, quick. I started scrapbooking and I think I made 2 or 3 layouts. But I quickly realized that I prefer more instantaneous gratification than a scrapbook will ever be able to give me. I appreciate all of the dedication and hard work that people put into scrapbooks more because of this short lived stint in scrapbooking.
Around this time, I stumbled across a card making video on YouTube, and decided to give that a go. Obviously, I wasn't very good at it, but within a day (or less), I had a finished thing to show for my work. My cards were not well thought out, balanced, or really even designed, but I made them. I continued to watch YouTube videos and take classes at a local scrapbook store, which helped me refine my crafty skills. I still have so much room for improvement, but I really enjoy the card making process so much!
I hope you will join me on this journey of continued improvement in my accidental hobby!
